Privacy

Te Ngata is a personal project, with the goal of helping people learn te reo Māori words using a spaced-repetition system.

What info is collected and why

  • If you submit a word for the site, you’ll be asked for your name and email address. These are needed to credit you and contact you about your submission if necessary.
  • Your submitted word(s) are kept in the site’s database, and your name and email address are received via an email notification.
  • Your submitted word may be included on the public site if it seems valuable for other learners. It will be set as “private” at first until it’s been reviewed.

How your info is stored and protected

  • Your info is kept in the website’s database, and is backed up daily to a private cloud service.
  • Every effort is made to keep private submissions private, but all submitted words can be seen for review purposes. The possibility of your word information being exposed to another logged in user can’t be ruled out, though that is never the intention.
  • Your email won’t be shared with anyone else or used for marketing. It’s just to contact you about word submissions if needed.

Your rights

  • You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal info at any time.
  • If you change your mind about a submission, let me know and it can be edited to remove any details that are specific to you.

Questions?

  • If any of this is unclear or concerning, please get in touch at and I’ll be happy to help.
